Using Pipe Tables in CaidentCalc
Pipe tables control the pipe and fitting data CaidentCalc uses when calculating friction loss. They define the available pipe materials and sizes, actual inside diameters, Hazen-Williams C values, and equivalent lengths for fittings.
CaidentCalc includes a built-in pipe table for common fire sprinkler materials, but you can also create your own or import an existing HASS pipe table when you need to use different values.
The built-in Caident Fittings table
CaidentCalc includes the Caident Fittings table with pipe and fitting data for commonly used residential and commercial fire sprinkler materials. This table is selected automatically when you create a new project, and you can choose a different default table in Settings.

Creating and editing custom pipe tables
If you need to use materials, pipe sizes, fittings, or C values that aren’t included in the built-in table, you can create a custom pipe table. You can start with the Caident Fittings table as a baseline and modify it for your needs.
- Change the Hazen-Williams C value for a material.
- Add materials or pipe sizes.
- Add or remove fittings and their equivalent lengths.
- Save the table under a custom name for use in other projects.
Your custom pipe tables are available to other CaidentCalc projects on the same computer and can also be selected as the default table in Settings.

Importing HASS pipe tables
If you already have a HASS .pip file, you can import it into CaidentCalc instead of recreating the pipe table manually. From the pipe-table manager, select Import and choose the .pip file you want to use.
CaidentCalc imports the pipe materials, sizes, C values, and fitting equivalent lengths from the file and creates a new pipe table. Once imported, the table can be selected for a project or edited just like any other custom pipe table.
Choosing a pipe table for a project
Each CaidentCalc project has its own pipe table selection. The selected table determines the pipe properties and fitting equivalent lengths used when calculating friction loss throughout the project.
You can change the selected pipe table from the project’s settings. The fitting data included with the calculation results also shows the values used for the calculation, making it easy to verify the pipe and fitting information used in your results.
