Introducing Coversheets: Create Complete, Branded Submittal Packages

A submittal package should be ready to send when it leaves the Submittal Generator. That means having the right datasheets in the right order, but it also means presenting them as a complete package for the specific project.

With coversheets, you can now add your company branding, contact information, and project details directly to the packages you build with Caident. Instead of creating a separate coversheet or editing the finished PDF afterward, you can add everything directly as part of building your submittal package in Caident.

This has also been one of the features our users have asked for, and we’re excited to make it part of the Submittal Generator.

Set Up Your Organization’s Coversheet

Before building your first coversheet, organization admins can set up the default company information from Materials Submittals → Settings. These settings are shared across the organization, giving everyone a consistent starting point when creating submittal packages.

You can add your company logo and configure the company information you want displayed on the coversheet. Setting this up once means users don’t have to re-enter the same company details every time they build a package.

Set your organization’s default company information and logo for submittal coversheets.

The settings page also includes a coversheet preview, so you can see how your company information will appear before building a package. The preview uses placeholder project details to show the overall layout. Actual project information is entered when a user builds a submittal package.

Customize the Coversheet for Each Project

When you’re ready to generate a submittal, start the same way you normally would by selecting all the datasheets you want to include in the package. Once you’ve made your selections, click Build Package. The build window will open, giving you the option to add and customize a coversheet before generating your package.

Your organization’s saved coversheet information is automatically loaded into the company details, so you don’t have to enter the same information for every submittal. From there, you can add the details specific to the current project:

  • Project Name
  • Project Address
  • Additional Information for any other project details you want shown on the coversheet

The company details can also be adjusted before building if a particular project needs something different. Any changes made here apply only to the package you’re currently building and do not change your organization’s saved defaults.

You can also choose whether to include your organization’s logo on the current coversheet. The logo itself is managed from Materials Submittal Settings and can only be changed by an organization admin.

Build a Complete, Project-Ready Package

Once everything looks right, click Build as usual. Caident generates the package with your project-specific coversheet followed by the datasheets you’ve selected.

The result is a more complete submittal package that’s branded for your company and ready for the project, without having to create a coversheet separately or modify the PDF after it’s generated.

Set It Up Once, Use It on Every Submittal

Coversheets are designed to add customization without adding repetitive work. Your organization can set its company information once, while each user can quickly add the details that make a package specific to the project they’re working on.

Head to Materials Submittals → Settings to configure your organization’s coversheet, then build your next submittal package to try it out.
