Before starting a fire sprinkler design, you may need to research the local requirements for the project. AHJ Research in Caident Design helps gather information about the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ), water purveyor, adopted codes, sprinkler requirements, and water supply requirements for the project location.

Research a project location

Select AHJ Research in Caident Design and enter the project address. Caident will identify the fire AHJ and water purveyor for the location and research available requirements for the project.

The results include the sources where the information was found, along with contact information and suggested questions for requirements that should be confirmed directly with the AHJ or water purveyor.

Review and verify the results

AHJ Research is intended to make the research process faster, but the information should still be verified before relying on it for a project. Information that hasn’t been confirmed is marked Unverified.

As you review the results, you can enter your initials to mark information as verified and remove anything that doesn’t apply to the project.

Research is also saved by jurisdiction so it can be used as a starting point for future projects in the same area. Older research is flagged when it may need to be reviewed again, since local codes and requirements can change over time.
